Ravens LB Rookie Courtney Upshaw Reinjures His Shoulder In Loss

Courtney Upshaw was hoping to salvage a disappointing preseason with a good performance against the St. Louis Rams. Instead, the rookie linebacker left the Edward Jones Dome on Thursday night with more questions about his health and more doubts about his availability for the Ravens’ Sept.10 regular season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Upshaw, who was bothered throughout training camp by a sprained right shoulder, reinjured it in the second quarter of the Ravens’ 31-17 loss. He jogged off the field favoring his shoulder and he did not return to the game.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that the second-round draft pick, who missed the team’s preseason opener and about a week of practice time with the injury, will have a magnetic resonance imaging taken on Friday.

“Yeah, I’m concerned,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll find out tomorrow with an MRI what it is.”
