Broncos QB Peyton Manning 'Tentative' In Preseason Debut | | Considering he missed all of last season with nerve damage in his neck that required several surgeries, Broncos QB Peyton Manning didn’t look bad in his first game back. The problem was he didn’t exactly look like his old self, either. With very little pressure from the Bears’ defense, Manning went 4-for-7 for 44 yards on the opening drive that ended when his throw went slightly behind receiver Brandon Stokley, was tipped in the air and picked off by a diving Major Wright. Manning’s best play on the drive came on 3-and-17 when he stepped up in the pocket and hit Eric Decker on a deep crossing route for 19 yards and the first down. Manning looked tentative on a couple of reads but considering his last throw in a real game came at the end of the 2010 season, the Broncos had to be happy with their big investment.
