HBO plans to have an NFL team in place for this year's edition of "Hard Knocks" by June 1, according to Michael Shain of the New York Post but thus far, finding a willing participant to appear in the popular program has been difficult. The Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins reportedly have either declined offers or informed HBO and NFL Films that they're not interested in opening their doors to camera crews. The New York Jets, who had... [Read More]
Maurice Jones-Drew is unhappy about his contract, and he is staying away from Jaguars offseason team activities to show his displeasure with the five-year deal he signed prior to the 2009 campaign. Our sources in North Florida tell PFW the contract extension that Jones-Drew is pining for isn’t coming anytime soon. Jones-Drew, the 2011 NFL rushing champion, has yet to say publicly that his absence from OTAs is because he wants an extension; rather that information was revealed by head coach Mike Mularkey last week. The Jacksonville Jaguars remain interested in the HBO training camp reality series, "Hard Knocks," says the Florida Times-Union. With a report from the Houston Chronicle that the Houston Texans are the latest team to turn down the reality show, HBO may have little choice other than to embrace the Jaguars. Already, the Jets, Falcons, 49ers and Redskins have reportedly said no to "Hard Knocks." The Jaguars were the focus of the show back in 2004
Back in April, my CBSSports.com colleague (and life coach) Pete Prisco reported that Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew was absent from offseason training activities because MJD was seeking a new contract and Pete's report was confirmed by new Jags coach Mike Mularkey on Tuesday. "It's all voluntary. I wish he was here. He knows we wish he was here," Mularkey said, per Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. "He's talked about trying to get an extension for his contract." Banyard has signed with the team as a rookie free agent after the draft.
According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, new Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey made it clear Monday that there will be no quarterback competition in the team's minicamp-Blaine Gabbert is the team's starting quarterback. "Blaine's our starting quarterback. ... I'm a big body-language reader, and on the practice field, the cafeteria, in meetings, he has a confidence about him. We feel good about him." Chad Henne will enter training camp as the No. 2 quarterback, though it could get interesting if he plays well and... [Read More]

Maurice Jones-Drew will not be at the Jacksonville Jaguars first day of OTAs on Tuesday, says the Florida Times-Union. Jones-Drew has now shown up for any of the Jaguars off-season work thus far, apparently in a squabble over his contract. Jones-Drew is hoping for a contract more in line apparently with players like Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson and Arian Foster, who all have inked new deals within the past year. Johnson and Foster, of course, are in MJD's own division, the AFC South. Also, kicker Josh Scobee, the... [Read More]

According to a source, Knighton could be cleared for full workouts soon and his recovery has been nothing... [Read More]
