Bud Adams Reportedly Would Have Paid Broncos QB Peyton Manning $25M Per Year

As part of his reporting on the tenuous Drew Brees franchise tag situation with the New Orleans Saints, ESPN's Chris Mortensen rolled out this little side nugget - that the Titans were willing to give Peyton Manning $25 million per season to come back to Tennessee. Titans owner Bud Adams interjected himself into the process, even reportedly offering Manning a front office position once his playing days were done, but the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback still settled on the Denver Broncos and a five-year, $96 million package. It was no secret that Adams desperately wanted the home state hero to quarterback his football team, even thrusting quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker into temporary limbo to do so. So while Mortensen cited no source, the $25 million a year price tag from an owner who knows his window to win a Super Bowl in his lifetime is rapidly closing, it is not all that farfetched a scenario.

There are two reasons Peyton chose Denver over Tennessee. 1.) He has a horse fetish, and 2.) he's afraid of Jake Locker.

Slightly biased appraisal there, don't you think?
