Colin McCarthy Back On Field With Titans After Three Weeks
Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1 last year, setting the stage for a lost season.
The Titans feel like he returned to action too soon after the injury, so when he strained a hamstring earlier this month they decided to be careful with the third-year pro.
McCarthy was back on the field Thursday for his first practice in three weeks.
Last year he sat out three games after the high ankle sprain.
“I came back from the ankle in three weeks, when high ankles take 4-6,” McCarthy said. “They knew I wasn’t 100 percent and I didn’t feel like I should be out there but the team needed me so I was out there. We learned from that.”
He said he appreciates how trainers and coaches have handled his hamstring injury: “To have them on my side not forcing me to be out there … there is no frustration and anger, more excitement to go out there and play.”
