Giants OT David Diehl Skates On Drunk-Drive Bill
A New York Giants lineman who admitted that he drunkenly crashed into several parked cars after a soccer match was sentenced today to a conditional discharge and doesnít have to pay for any of the damages.
Lineman David Diehl pleaded guilty in February to aggravated driving while intoxicated and impaired driving charges after he was arrested last summer for plowing his BMW into two parked cars after he downed beers while watching a Croatian soccer match at a bar in Astoria.
Prosecutors said Diehlís blood alcohol content was at .182, well above the legal limit of .08.
The plea deal required Diehl to continue in the NFLís substance abuse treatment program and complete two drunken driving programs
Diehl was supposed to pay $1,200 in restitution for the vehicles he damaged while leaving the soccer match, but prosecutors said the player has not been billed.
