Redskins Closely Monitoring FS Brandon Meriweather's Workload
Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said he and the team’s medical staff will keep a close eye on safety Brandon Meriweather, who remains in the process of working his way back from a knee surgery.
After handling a relatively normal workload on the first two days of camp, Meriweather had his snaps limited significantly on Saturday.
Meriweather denied limping when asked how he was doing after practice. But Shanahan said he noticed the safety, who missed all but one half of football last season, didn’t look the greatest, and that prompted the limiting of his activities.
“I could see him wanting to go,” Shanahan said. “He’s a guy that you’ve got to slow down because he wants to be out there. If you say, ‘Hey, take yourself out. Slow Down,’ he doesn’t know what that means. We’ve limited some of his reps. We’ve limited them overall because I do see him being a little bit, or at least, on the edge where I don’t want him to push himself too hard. We’ve got to get him back in football shape.”
