Ravens OT Bryant McKinnie Returns To Practice, Unable To Finish
Bryant McKinnie was back on the practice field Friday, but didn’t finish the session.
McKinnie returned to action after missing Thursday’s camp opener for being too heavy, and it was clear Friday that he still has work to do before he’s full-go.
The veteran left tackle participated in 11-on-11 drills, but he spent most of the second half of practice watching from the sideline after running out of gas.
“He worked very hard and competed,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said. “He did not make it through the whole practice, as you saw.”
When McKinnie was on the field, he did work with the first team offense. Harbaugh told reporters that McKinnie is in good condition, but still needs to shed some pounds.
“He’s carrying a little too much weight right now,” Harbaugh said. “With this heat out here, it made it tough for him to finish. I know he’s been working really hard to get some of the weight off, so he’s not eating as much as he would normally.
“He’s going to have to tough it out. He’s going to have to fight through that and get into the kind of shape we need him in and he wants to be in.”
