Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer Has Successful Left Knee Surgery
Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer underwent successful surgery on his left knee Thursday in Dallas.
“It went great,” said Jordan Woy, Spencer’s Dallas-based agent.
Spencer hyper-extended his left leg during the last week of organized team activities in early June and an MRI showed a bone bruise. Spencer aggravated his injury Saturday while running the conditioning test, and the Cowboys opted to go ahead and move forward with surgery so that he can return before the season opener Sept. 8.
Spencer could miss up to four weeks recovering from the surgery, and the Cowboys certainly won’t rush him back. Spencer is missing valuable practice time while out as the Cowboys convert from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense under new coordinator Monte Kiffin.
