Cowboys WR Danny Coale Sidelined Because Of Swelling In Left Knee
Danny Coale’s ongoing recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee had a setback after the Cowboys’ first training camp practice Sunday.
The second-year wide receiver, who has yet to appear in an NFL regular season game, experienced swelling and was sidelined Monday and Tuesday during the team’s walkthrough.
“You expect something like this might happen,” Coale said. “Did I want it to happen? Obviously not.”
Coale had surgery Dec. 11 and went through a lengthy rehabilitation process. The injury occurred when the 2012 fifth-round draft pick was a member of the practice squad.
“I haven’t had any issues in rehab up until this point,” he said.
Coale, who added that everything is “structurally sound,” said he didn’t know if he will undergo an MRI and said he expects to return “soon.”
“I want to be out there competing,” he said. “I hate watching. But right now you play the card that you are dealt.”
