Redsins CB DeAngelo Hall Considered Not Playing Football This Season
DeAngelo Hall figured he might be able to earn as much money doing stuff off the field this year as on it, so he considered not playing.
The Washington Redskins cornerback told Mark Maske of the Washington Post that before returning to the Redskins on a one-year contract worth $1.25 million (with a possible $1 million in incentives for a Pro Bowl appearance and playing time escalators), he thought about walking away.
Hall, of course, has been paid big bucks in the past. When he went to the Oakland Raiders, they threw a $70 million, seven-year contract at him.
“I contemplated not playing this year, to be honest,” Hall told Maske. “I felt like I could do some things off the field that would have been just as lucrative as coming to play. So I really had to sit back and just examine the situation, see if I did feel like I could do it again. And I felt like I could. I felt like the coaches are going to do a good job of putting me in position to be successful, and that’s all you can ask for.”
