Seahawks DE Chris Clemons May Be Ready For First Game
Defensive end Chris Clemons, who led the Seahawks with 11.5 sacks in 2012 before suffering a torn ACL in the Redskins playoff game, may be healed and ready to play by the beginning of the regular season.
Clemons, 31, has occasionally tweeted this offseason that he’ll be healthy. He did it again May 26, replying on Twitter to a Seahawks fan: “My rehab is coming along great. I will be ready for game 1.”
Now Seattle coach Pete Carroll is saying that Clemons indeed could be ready to play when the Seahawks open the 2013 season Sept. 8 at Carolina.
“Yes, he does have a shot to be ready, according to the doctor,” Carroll said Wednesday after the team’s OTA, or organized team activity. “He’s got a chance and we’ll just wait and see how it goes.
“Like I said from the beginning, we’re not going to rush it. We’ll make sure he’s really well and ready to go and all of that, but he is well ahead of schedule and he’s in great shape. And so we’re really pleased.”
