Titans WR Nate Washington Bristles Over Trade Talk
Earlier this off-season, there were reports that the Tennessee Titans were willing to trade veteran wide receiver Nate Washington.
No deal ever came to fruition for the veteran wide receiver, who has one year at $4.2 million against the cap on his contract.
Still, Washington bristled Friday when the subject that the Titans were trying to move him a couple of months ago came up during media availability.
“That was a media thing,” Washington said. “You guys, the media, did that. I never even read anything about that. Whether it was told to me or not, that's a different story. But I don't read those types of things. I'm here to do my job. It's now the end of May, and we're still being asked questions about that. … So don't ask me anything else about who they brought in.”
The Titans did bring in a rookie in Justin Hunter and want to get second-year pro Kendall Wright more involved in the offense than he was even last year when he led the team with 64 catches.
Tennessee is also hopeful that Kenny Britt will finally stay healthy and fulfill his potential so where does that leave Washington?
“The only people that's making it an issue is y'all. I don't fall into that stuff,” Washington said. “I'm here to work, to get better and do my job. That's the only thing I'm worried about. Who they bring in and who they don't bring in is irrelevant to me. I'm here to do my job. That's the only thing I have control over.”
