Dolphins Rookie DE Dion Jordan Gets On Field, But Doesn't Stay
Dion Jordan, the Dolphins' first-round pick, got on the field briefly Friday for the first day of the team's three day rookie mini-camp but he didn't stay on the field long.
After the 6-foot-6, 248-pound Jordan participated in a pass-rushing drill that required him to swat at blocking dummies the way a defender would swat at offensive linemen, it appeared the Dolphins had seen enough.
Coach Joe Philbin, and later trainer Kevin O'Neill, said a few words to Jordan and he didn't do anything else all day.
That's because Jordan, selected with the No. 3 pick of the draft, is recovering from right shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in February.
"I was real excited," Jordan said about his short time on the field, "but I've got to be careful and I have to be smart."
The initial projected recovery time was three to four months, but it's unclear when Jordan will be ready to return to practice fulltime.
"Honestly, right now I really don't know," Jordan said when asked if he'd be healthy by July.
"I really don't have a certain timetable set for me. (I'm) just taking care of my body and doing as much as I can and soaking in as much as possible while I rehab my shoulder."
