Charges Dropped Against Bears TE Evan Rodriguez In Miami
Prosecutors in Miami have dropped all charges against Chicago Bears tight end Evan Rodriguez stemming from an arrest last month in Miami Beach.
Rodriguez was arrested March 20 and charged with resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication following a car accident in which Rodriguez was a passenger. Rodriguez had an exchange with police but the charges were dropped by the State Attorney’s office, according to his attorney at O’Donnell & O’Donnell.
“Evan was not intoxicated nor did he engage in disorderly conduct,” a statement from the law office said. “After a careful review of the facts, the State Attorney’s office made a conclusive determination that no crimes were committed by Evan Rodriguez and accordingly and appropriately dropped all the charges for which he was mistakenly arrested.”
General manager Phil Emery expressed disappointment in Rodriguez when asked about the matter earlier this month but now the second-year player from Temple will not face any criminal action. The Bears listed Rodriguez as a fullback for the voluntary minicamp that was held last week at Halas Hall.
