New Bears Coaching Staff Considers Gabe Carimi A Guard
Never at a loss for confidence, Gabe Carimi declared he was the best offensive tackle entering the draft just two years ago.
Now, the Chicago Bears consider him a guard and he’s in the mix for a role at that position with the team possibly in position to add to the group in next week’s draft.
Carimi played both guard positions and right tackle with the second and third units in the first day of minicamp Tuesday in the Walter Payton Center at Halas Hall, but coach Marc Trestman made it clear the battle at right tackle, at least for now, is between J’Marcus Webb and Jonathan Scott.
“More a guard,” Trestman said when asked what he considered Carimi. “He was hurt all last year so we’re going to focus in on him competing at the guard position with Matt (Slauson).”

Like this idea a lot.
Even before he was hurt showed slow footwork, the kind coaching can't fix & way too much lunging to make up for it.
