Buccaneers CB Eric Wright Takes A Paycut To Remain In Tampa
A four-game suspension for violating the NFLís policy on performance enhancing drugs has cost Eric Wright in a big way.
But the cornerback still has a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Wright, who was nailed with a four-game suspension last season, lost a grievance that voided $7.75 million in guaranteed salary for the 2013 season but the Bucs are bringing him back at a discount. The team announced this afternoon it has reworked Wrightís contract and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports the new contract is worth a base value of $1.5 million and Wright has a chance to double that to $3 million. That is a sharp pay cut for Wright, who joined the team last season with a $38 million, five-year contract that now isnít all that.
