Packers Think WR Randall Cobb's Injury Not Too Serious
It was the only disturbing scene in Green Bay's 55-7 demolition of Tennessee on Sunday at Lambeau Field: all-purpose star Randall Cobb walking gingerly off the field midway through the third quarter with an ankle injury suffered on a punt return.
"I hope it's not serious," said Packers coach Mike McCarthy. "The training staff on the field did not give me anything to believe that it was very serious, but as you know with ankle sprains and joint injuries, the next day is a huge indicator."
Cobb is Green Bay's go-to guy in the slot, its leading receiver and kick and punt returner. If he sits out any time - the season finale at Minnesota on Sunday or the upcoming playoffs - it will greatly affect those positions and the people who need to fill them.
"When they told me he was running, that made me feel a lot better," said receiver Greg Jennings, of Cobb. "But anytime you see a guy go down, whether it's your teammate and someone that you worked with every day, it's like your concern level kind of increases. Hopefully he's OK."
