Lions To Start WR Kris Durham One Week After Being Promoted From Practice Squad
A week ago, Kris Durham was on the Lionsí practice squad. Tonight, heís starting at receiver opposite Calvin Johnson.
Durham, who signed off the practice squad after Ryan Broyles and Titus Young were placed on injured reserve with season-ending knee injuries, is the latest receiver the Lions are turning to in an attempt to diversify their passing game.
He played three seasons with Matthew Stafford at Georgia and has been with the Lions longer than any other receiver besides Johnson.
"We had very good grades on him coming out of college and ended up going to Seattle and then when he was available (we) brought him in knowing that he was going to give us a receiver with size," offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said earlier this week. "We got Calvin, but to be able to have a receiver 6-5 on the outside that can build speed down the field I think gives us another dimension that we havenít had on the field."
