Non Football Injury Cost Falcons DT Corey Peters Almost $100,000
Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters has been quiet about the stress fracture injury that kept him out for the first six games of the season.
The Falcons also have remained pretty mum on an injury that happened sometime in the offseason, but didn’t come to light until training camp, when it became obvious Peters wasn’t practicing, Pat Yasinskas of ESPN reports.
According to a league source, Peters was paid at a reduced rate while spending the first seven weeks of the season on the non-football injury list.
Peters' contract initially called for him to be paid $540,000 in base salary, but Peters’ weekly checks were based on a $303,000 salary while he was on the non-football injury list. Peters went back to the $540,000 scale when he came off the list earlier this week, players are paid 17 times during the season, including the bye week and Peters remained on the non-football injury list for Atlanta’s bye.
