Packers Concerned About Increasing RB Alex Greenís Workload
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy voiced his concerned about giving running back Alex Green a bigger workload going forward, per Jason Wilde of 540 ESPN Milwaukee.
ďAlex did some good things, and thereís some things heíll definitely learn from. He obviously had the big run, did a great job there,Ē McCarthy said, via Wilde. ďBut thereís some protection opportunities that we need to clean up and the course of certain runs. So, a young guy that took advantage of an opportunity and this will be an opportunity for him and James (Starks) and Brandon (Saine) to play this week against Houston.Ē
Now that Cedric Benson is out for at least eight weeks, it sounds as though the Packers will turn to a running back by committee. After Benson left the game Sunday, Green ran the ball nine times for 55 yards, with 41 of those yards coming from a single carry. The Packers donít rely heavily on the run, so one shouldn't expect to see a huge increase in Greenís workload in the coming weeks.
The Green Bay Press Gazette mentions that James Starks could end up getting the start against the Texans this weekend, despite the fact that he hasnít played in a single game this season.
