Chiefs Facing Taking On Falcons With Skeleton Crew On Defense
Starting cornerback Brandon Flowers hasn’t practiced in more than a month because of what the Chiefs have called a bruised foot and is unlikely to play in Thursday’s game at Green Bay, meaning he would also miss the entire preseason. So his ability to be at full strength much less even play in the regular season opener against the Falcons is in doubt.
To complicate matters, his top backup, Jalil Brown, injured his groin in last week’s game, jeopardizing his chances of playing against Atlanta.
The Chiefs also will play without their top rusher, Tamba Hali, against Atlanta because of his one-game NFL suspension. So unless Flowers and Brown get healthy in a hurry, the Chiefs will try to defend Julio Jones, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and the rest of the Atlanta receivers with a skeleton crew.
