Since winning the Super Bowl the Giants have been busy tossing their two cents into everything from Gisele's break down of the Patriot's receiving corps to the Cowboys quarterback situation. The latest out of New York, according to the Dallas Morning News, is Ahmad Bradshaw's opinion of Cowboy's signal caller Tony Romo. When asked by the NFL Network about Romo's ability to lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl, Bradshaw offered, “You know what, man, I don’t see it happening. I don’t think they believe it, and they’re America’s team. It all comes in together. If the fans don’t believe it, the team doesn’t. They’re kinda doubtful with Romo.” Romo is 1-3 for his career in the playoffs, with his only win coming against the Eagles in 2010. The Cowboys lost to the Giants in 2008, before the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys appear ready finalize the coaching staff as Joe Baker is expected to be hired as the club's assistant secondary coach. Baker, 42, most recently supervised the linebackers under former Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris, who was fired after the team finished the 2011 season with a 4-12 record. Baker will work alongside Jerome Henderson, who replaced Dave Campo last month and will oversee the defensive backfield. Since secondary coach Brett Maxie left to take a position with the Tennessee Titans in January, the Cowboys have been searching for a candidate to help Henderson. They turned to Baker, a former receiver who was Cowboys coach Jason Garrett's teammate at Princeton.

Cowboys WR Laurent Robinson Hopes To Remain In Dallas

Laurent Robinson watched the Super Bowl on Sunday thinking about how the Cowboys need to be playing on that stage. Having the division rival New York Giants win their second Super Bowl in five years was considered a motivational tool. “It’s motivation for us next year,” Robinson said Tuesday. But what’s most interesting about his response is that Robinson might not even be with the Cowboys next season. After all, the Cowboys wide receiver is an unrestricted free agent. During a Tuesday charity event at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Robinson was even sporting his No. 81 Cowboys throwback jersey. “I’m loving wearing this jersey,” Robinson said at the "Baskets of Hope" event. “I’m hoping to stay here as a Cowboy. But we’ll see on March 13 when free agency starts. Hopefully my dream can come true and I can stay a Cowboy.”

"Mat's surgery was a success and they expect him to make a full recovery!!," McBriar's wife Erin posted on Twitter. McBriar was diagnosed with drop foot during the 2011 season, believed to be caused by nerve damage. The foot started to give McBriar trouble prior to the Oct. 23 game against St. Louis and he was inactive the next week against Philadelphia, he returned for the next six games before the Cowboys placed him on injured reserve the day before the regular-season finale at the New York Giants. McBriar said at the time he was in talks with the team for a few weeks about going on IR and it was a mutual decision. After the season, McBriar was examined over a three-day period at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he was diagnosed with an intraneural ganglion cyst below his left knee.

The Oakland Raiders were denied permission to interview Dallas Cowboys special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis for an assistant head coaching position, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com who cites a source. Cowboys assistant coaches are unavailable to speak with the media during the offseason. Recently hired Raiders coach Dennis Allen worked with DeCamillis in Atlanta from 2002-to-2005 where a good relationship formed. Dan Reeves, DeCamillis' father-in-law, was the head coach with the Falcons at that time. "Dan Reeves is another guy that, he brought me into this league and gave me my first opportunity to coach in the National Football League," Allen said at his introductory news conference with the Raiders regarding mentors of his. "So I’ve got some great resources that I can rely on and lean on in times when I hit a situation where I need some help."

U.S. District Judge Sidney Fitzwater sentenced Vollers in federal court in Dallas on Friday, almost two years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to sell more than 100 kilograms of marijuana. He could have received a 40-year prison term. The 31-year-old played for Dallas from 2002-04 and appeared in two games for Indianapolis in 2005.
A federal judge has set an April 2 trial date for NFL wide receiver Sam Hurd, who is charged with trying to create a drug-distribution network. U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis, in an order Wednesday, set a pretrial conference for March 21 before an April trial in Dallas federal court, the trial could be delayed as Hurd, alleged co-conspirator Toby Lujan and federal prosecutors file motions beforehand. Hurd, 26, is accused of trying to buy large quantities of marijuana and cocaine, including an alleged buy of one kilogram of cocaine. He was arrested outside of a Chicago-area steakhouse on Dec. 14 and cut shortly afterward by the Chicago Bears.
Cowboys punter Mat McBriar is in Indianapolis, where he will moonlight as a reporter for ESPN Australia. Two days after the Super Bowl, McBriar will undergo surgery on his injured left foot, which has nerve damage, McBriar said he spent two days at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., last week, where his injury finally was correctly diagnosed. “It’s frustrating,” McBriar said. “We could be four months further along.” McBriar ended the season on injured reserve, a nerve test after the season showed no progress from the one he took in October, and his neurologist suggested a second opinion from the specialists at Mayo or Johns Hopkins. McBriar said he should be able to resume punting this summer, that could, however, hurt his marketability. He is a free agent, and he has no idea where his future will take him. “I’m no good to anybody until I get healthy,” McBriar said.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones continues to harbor high expectations for Bruce Carter who fell to the second round of the 2011 draft because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament. "Boy, we wanted him out there," Jones said Tuesday during an interview on the NFL Network according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "It’s remarkable that he even got back out there." With an exceptional season turned in by Lee, when he was healthy [105 tackles in 15 starts], Jones hopes Carter can pair with the second-year playmaker to form an outstanding combo like San Francisco has in Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman. "We all watched Bowman. We watched Willis out there for San Francisco, and boy, did those guys make a difference," Jones said of the All-Pro inside linebackers. "Those guys and our Sean Lee and Carter, this is my dream: [they’re] not exactly the prototype for the makeup of the two guys you’d want in the middle -- you might want more of a thumper, a big guy, to go along with Sean Lee. But if we can keep both those guys out there, adjust our defense, we might be going toward Willis and Bowman area like they have in San Francisco."

Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Will Sign Free Agents With Cap Space

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wouldn't get into prioritizing the team's off-season needs Monday -- the first day of Senior Bowl practices -- because he said it would create a competitive disadvantage for them in the draft and free agency according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. Jones did say, however, that by releasing five offensive players before last season, the Cowboys have put themselves in a competitive position this off-season to add players via free agency. "We've done an outstanding job. I give Stephen [Jones] a lot of credit. We thought this would be Armageddon for us this year and we were able to do some things last year with the cap that really puts us and gives us some viability. Stephen and a lot of the crew he works with regarding the cap, regarding the contracts and all of that, has given us a chance to have some room to improve this team this year and we will use it. It's very important that we are highly competitive this year."

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins Expected Back By Training Camp

Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins had surgery on his right shoulder two weeks ago and will need four to six months of recovery, according to the Dallas Morning News. Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Jenkins should be ready for the start of training camp in late July. "I don't at this time have him down as a concern of what we want to defensively during the offseason," Jones said. Jenkins will miss the team's offseason drills, but the start of training camp is more important. The 26-year-old finished with 24 tackles and an interception while missing four games because of injuries.

Cowboys Covet Saints Free Agent OG Carl Nicks?

Already, Cowboys fans are salivating at the idea of signing free-agent OG Carl Nicks, who might be too tough for the Saints to keep. Why Nicks and not, say, Ben Grubbs? Well, now-OL coach Bill Callahan has ties to Nicks from Nebraska, and owner Jerry Jones is said to be a fan of the Saints' power blocker to solidify the middle of his line. If the Cowboys move Doug Free to right tackle, they don't want to saddle him with a weak-link right guard.

Cowboys OTs Doug Free, Tyron Smith Could Switch Sides

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett confirmed that the team is considering having offensive tackles Doug Free and Tyron Smith switch sides in 2012, Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. "It's certainly a possibility," Garrett said. "That was a possibility when we first drafted Tyron, and one of the many things that was attractive about him was his physical ability to play both right and left tackle in this league." The Cowboys used the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft on Smith, who played right tackle at USC but has the feet, strength and athleticism to play left tackle at the NFL level. The 6-foot-5, 311-pound Smith, who didn't turn 21 until December, started all 16 games at right tackle in 2011 and signed through 2014 with a team option for 2015. Dallas also re-signed the 6-foot-6, 323-pound Free to a four-year, $32 million contract on July 29. For the second consecutive season, Free started all 16 games at left tackle, but played on the right side earlier in his career and gives the Cowboys the flexibility to make a change. "Doug is capable of playing both. Tyron is capable of playing both," Garrett said. "We're trying to make the best fit for our football team, and for each of those guys, so they can play at their best. "If we were to do that, we would try to do that earlier, rather than later, to give them enough opportunity to do it and get better at it."

Cowboys Considering Switching Tyron Smith To Left Tackle

A decision has yet to be made, but Cowboys coach Jason Garrett acknowledged Thursday that the team is considering switching tackles Doug Free and Tyron Smith before next season. "It's certainly a possibility," Garrett said. Smith, who played on the right side, excelled as a rookie and proved to be the team's most consistent offensive lineman while Free, a five-year veteran, experienced his share of struggles while protecting quarterback Tony Romo's blind side. Free committed a team-high 10 penalties and also surrendered 9.5 sacks - the same total Smith yielded during his first season as a pro. Garrett said the versatility of both players has allowed the Cowboys to consider making the move - one they would hope to finalize before the team convenes for training camp. "We feel like they're both physically capable of doing both, so that's the attractive part," Garrett said. "...We're trying to make the best fit for our football team and for each of those guys so they can play their best. If we were to do that, we'd try to do it earlier rather than later just to give them enough opportunity to do it and get better at it."

Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins underwent surgery on his right shoulder last week and is facing a four-to-six month recovery time, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports. A first-round pick in 2008, Jenkins has eight interceptions and 40 passes defensed in 58 career games. Jenkins is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the surgery could keep Jenkins out of the team's OTAs and mini-camps, the team's first on-field work with newly-hired secondary coach Jerome Henderson. In 12 games, the 2009 Pro Bowler had 24 tackles and an interception with eight passes defensed. Jenkins missed four games in the middle 'of the 2011 season with a hamstring injury.

That means the team is likely to replace DRE Kenyon Coleman and allow LOLB Anthony Spencer to test the free-agent market. Coleman was a placeholder, nothing more.
