Steelers NT Casey Hampton Says He Has 2 Years In Him Even If Not In Pittsburgh
by SteveRobWhatever 12-27-2012, 12:47 AM

Hines Ward never could envision himself wearing a uniform other than the one he wore 14 years with the Steelers but Casey Hampton doesn’t feel the same.

“I’m a little different than Hines,” said the Steelers’ burly nose tackle.

Following the 2011 season, the Steelers informed Ward that he would not be part of their future even though he was the franchise’s all-time leading receiver. But he never considered playing a 15th season with another team at the age of 36.

Hampton, however, believes he can play for two more years. He'd prefer to finish his career where it started but he also understands the business side of football.

If the Steelers don’t re-sign him, Hampton will sign with the highest bidder as an unrestricted free agent.

“I want to play, and if someone wants me to play for them, I’m going to play," Hampton said. "That’s just the way it is.”

the steeler fans will need to verify this, but when i watched him play this year, he seemed to be playing at a decent level still and guys that know how to play NT well are hard to find.

at casey's age, i would think there would be other teams running the 3-4 that would love to bring him in for 2 years and have casey teach a young guy who can take over the job.
