| Eagles RB Dion Lewis On His Way To Earning More Carries There could be more carries for Eagles RB Dion Lewis this season. More catches, too, following a standout weekend in training camp at Lehigh. During Saturday's first live contact action, he went for big gains on a run and a screen pass, doing so against the first team defense, because Lewis is, after all, a reserve behind LeSean (Shady) McCoy. On Sunday, Lewis stood out again. “He is a weapon, both in the pass and the run,” offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said. “He's had an excellent camp up to date.” Mornhinweg said he has loved Lewis since day one, but then was asked why so few touches last year. “Probably my mistake,” Mornhinweg said. “I always wanted to go into a game using him just a little bit more, then you get into a game and every play's important. And LeSean was so good last year, it was hard to take him out. It will still be hard to take LeSean out, but certainly I'd like to play the other fellows just a little bit more. Dion has earned that role up to date. He has a little hard work left.” Source: PhillyBurbs.com |
