NFL Police Say Ex-NFL LB Junior Seau's Toxicology Report Delayed

The toxicology report for deceased NFL star Junior Seau, whose death in May was ruled a suicide, has not been received yet by Oceanside (Calif.) police, according to Lt. Joe Young. Young, who oversaw the Seau death investigation, told PFW on Tuesday that the coroner's office was "backed up big time" and that the report likely would not be received for another 3-5 weeks. Young said he had expected to receive the results sometime last week but was told then that they would be delayed at least a month. "I know there are a lot of people anxious to get the results," Young said. "The problem, they told me last week, is that there are active homicide investigations that have priority." Young said that there was no indication that Seau's death was anything other than a suicide. The toxicology reports should indicate what drugs, if any, were in Seau's system the morning of his death.
