HBO Has June 1st Deadline For 'Hard Knocks' Decision HBO has been hard pressed to find a participant for its NFL summer reality series, Hard Knocks but a team will be selected by June 1, per the New York Post. Hard Knocks, which documents one NFL club through the daily grind of training camp and preseason (injuries, roster cuts, team talent shows and profanity-laced coaching tirades often providing compelling viewing) last aired in 2010 while featuring the New York Jets in one of the most memorable installments of a series that first aired in 2001. The Jets, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons are among the teams who have declined to invite cameras into their inner circles even though clubs featured in the past have generally agreed that the production crews quickly melt into the background to the point they seemingly become unnoticeable. A source close to the situation who declined to be identified told the Post that with NFL Films President Steve Sabol battling brain cancer, it's been harder to sway clubs to permit round-the-clock access. "Without him going out to the teams twisting arms," says the source, "it's been hard. Nobody would say 'no' to Sabol." Source: USA Today |
