Terror on the D-line Not a day goes by during training camp that Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jason Ferguson doesn't tease teammate Chris Canty about his looks. "He's like Frankenstein," Ferguson said. "Have you seen (the scar near) his (left) eye? It's crazy, man. Plus, he's got those big old arms and that long body. He's scary." Physical features aside, the Cowboys are expecting a monstrous season from Canty, a 6-foot-7, 299-pound defensive end. "I really think this is going to be a big year for him," tight end Jason Witten said. "He's a prototype end in the 3-4 defense, but that's not all he has going for him. He's a really hard worker. "Put it all together, and you've got a guy who should be hard to stop." Canty, a third-year player from Virginia, needs a breakout season after recording only one sack and no tackles for loss in 2006. On the bright side, he tied for the team lead in quarterback pressures with seven and was strong against the run. Source: Tom Orsborn, mysanantonio.com |
