Bears' Devin Hester Could See Some Time at WR in '07 http://www.gridironfans.com/story.php?t=50224

The Bears hope to have success finding a wide receiver in next weekend's draft...or maybe they already have him. Whether the Bears pursue a wide receiver in the first round at No. 31 or second round with the 37th pick overall could depend greatly on the extent of their plans to convert Devin Hester to receiver. If they decide a couple plays a game or in specific situations will suffice, they may want to take a shot at a receiver. I can't say giving Hester a look-see at wideout is surprising. When a guy has that kind of ability -- even if he listed on the depth chart as "touchdown maker" -- you find ways to get him on the field. Hester played a little wide receiver and a little cornerback in college, both with, um, modest results. Coming out of college, the scouting report on Hester the wideout was that he had good hands, but "lacked route awareness" and "struggles to escape press coverage."

This would actually make sense for them. They better hope he doesn't get hurt, or there goes their return man. |
