 Giants Name Mark Bavaro, Michael Strahan, Rich Seubert Honorary Captains

The Giants announced Thursday that three former Super Bowl winners – Mark Bavaro, Michael Strahan and Rich Seubert – would serve as honorary captains for Sunday’s N.F.C. championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Bavaro, a former tight end, will represent the 1986-87 and 1990-91 Giants championship teams. Bavaro has good memories of Candlestick Park, where he caught five passes for 54 yards, including one on the Giants’ final drive, in their 15-13 victory over the 49ers in the 1991 N.F.C. championship game. Strahan, a former defensive end, is the Giants’ career sacks leader and was a captain of the 2007-8 Giants, who upset the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Seubert, a former offensive lineman, was also on the title team from four years ago.
