| Happy B-Day Mike Ditka!! Yes Iron Mike turns 70 today. The only Bears coach from the superbowl era to win Chicago it's only superbowl championship in 1985, actually January 26th 1986 in a blowout of the New England Patriots 46-10. On his way to the superbowl that year Iron Mike compiled a regular season mark of 15-1 with the only loss being to the Miami Dolphins on monday night at Joe Robbie stadium 38-24. I remember that game well(ugh). During the playoffs the Bears shutout the New York Giants 21-0 in the divisional game then also shutout the Los Angeles Rams 24-0 in the to win the NFC championship.
During Ditkas 11 seasons as Da Bears head coach he turned the team around from a 3-6 strike shortened season is 1982 to 8-8 in 1983,10-6 in 1984 to our season best 15-1 in 1985. Yes in 4 short years Mike Ditka turned a 3-6 team into record breaking superbowl champions. His overall record coaching the Bears is 106-62-0 .631% with a playoff record of 6-6 that led to 6 division titles.
Coincidentally Mike Ditka started his pro football career with the Chicago Bears in 1961 as the #1 pick, at tight end and played for the Bears until 1966. He was Enshrined into the hall of fame in 1988. So I just want to wish Iron Mike HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
