SWAC Issues Championship Game Ban To Southern, Jackson State Due To Low APR The Southwestern Athletic Conference voted Thursday to ban Jackson State and Southern from competing in the league’s 2011 football championship game. The NCAA already hit both schools with a postseason ban because of low APR scores, which were released last month. But the SWAC championship did not apply because the NCAA considers the game an extension of the regular season. The league does not receive an automatic bid to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The SWAC also banned Southern and Grambling from competing in next year’s league basketball tournament because of low APR scores. Source Rivals.com |
