| List YOUR Top 10 Preseason Teams Here | | | Note the preseason in the title. This isn't about who is going to finish where, but the most talented teams out there.
I'm also going to throw a trap (a game they shouldnn't lose but may surprise them) game in here as well.
1. Georgia Bulldogs - No I am not being a homer. This team is as deep and talented as any UGA team I can remember. Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno lead the way of a potent UGA offense. CB Asher Allen and Rennie Curran lead a ferocious and speedy defense that leaves team bruised and beaten.
trap game - Alabama in Athens. A week after UGA comes home from playing Arizona State and the game before the revenge game vs Tennessee, this has look ahead written all over it.
2. Oklahoma Sooners - Sophomore QB Sam Bradford is amazing. The only thing he did as a freshman? Throw for a NCAA freshman record 36 TDs, and leading the nation in passing efficiency. LB Ryan Reynolds and DEs Auston English and Gerald McCoy shore up a pretty good Oklahoma front seven.
trap game - at Baylor. Yes, I know, I've lost my mind. But this game is so unassuming, and it is another look ahead game. They play TCU at home the week before (remember, TCU beat them a couple of years ago in Norman, OU wants revenge) and The Red River Shootout vs Texas is the weekend after. Baylor likes to give a top ranked Big 12 team a scare at least once a season. This might be more than a scare.
3. (the) Ohio State Buckeye - What more can I say abouth the Buckeyes that I haven't said already? Everyone comes back on offense (Boekman and Beanie), and throw in Terrelle Pryor, this offense will be nigh unstopable. Losing only two starters from the best statistical defense in the league onle means one thing (in the words of Clubber Lang:) "Pain."
trap game - at Michigan State. A possible look ahead vs. Penn State the following weekend, or it could be a slaughter by the Buckeyes. I think this all comes down to if the Bucks win @ Madison. If they lose, they will spend the rest of the season making statement games. If they win vs the Badgers, they may be sleepwalking when they get to this game. Confidence can get you losses sometimes.
4. USC Trojans - QB Mark Sanchez leads the Trojans into battle w/a team, that in typical Trojan fashion, just seems to keep reloading. RBs Stafon Johnson and Joe McKnight could be household names by seasons end. The LB corps is just scary. Brian Cushing and Rey Mauluga are both Butkus award candidates. Both will make opposing RBs wish they had chosen another sport to play.
trap game - at Virginia. The 1st week of the season could be a trap game? Yes, because the players may be doing the same thing the fans are. Looking ahead to the Ohio State game. Cav coach Al Groh likes to punish people on both sides of the ball. In the end, USC should prevail, but this is a disaster waiting to happen.
5. West Virginia Mountaineers - If you haven't heard of Noel Devine yet, get ready. The West Virginia RB is set to explode onto the scene after a frehman season that saw him average almost 9 YPC in limited action. And Pat White is the best running QB out there (sorry Gator fans.) The defense will be led by LBs Reed Williams and Morty Ivey, but other than that they are young. They won't need much on defense, as the offense should run wild.
trap game - at East Carolina .Go ahead and laugh. ECU may be doing the laughing at the end of the day. Coach Skip Holtz is slowly turning this team into a contender (in C-USA no less.) QB Patrick Pinkney can do some serious damage, and the defense is designed to put the hurt on opposing teams. If WVU gets cocky and thinks ECU will rollover, the Pirates may punch them in the mouth and knock them out.
6. Clemson Tigers - WHAT!?!? Again, I know I'm insane. But this team is loaded on offense. RBs James Davis and CJ Spiller are special players. There hasn't been RBs this good since Cadillac and Ronnie Brown at Auburn. QB Cullen Harper is improving, almost throwing for 3,000 yards and 27 TDs last season. Chris Clemmons and Michael Hamlin make up one of the better safety duos in the nation.
trap game - None. That's right, there isn't one game on the schedule that should worry the Clemson faithful. The only games that could be considered a look ahead are all against NCAA sub-division (i hate that title) schools. Ga Tech is the only possibility I see, but they will probably be still getting acclimated to a new offense. Clemson could quietly roll into the top 5 by seasons end.
7. Wisconsin Badgers - Nineteen starters return for the Badgers. The most important? RB PJ Hill is the man. He runs through people on his way to the endzone. If he goes down, backup Zach Brown will have no problem filling in. The defense features an impact player at DE. Matt Schughnessy is a QBs worst Nightmare, and LB Johnathon Casillas is a tackle machine.
trap game - at Michigan. USC isn't the only team looking forward to Ohio State. The badgers know the Big Ten title runs through Columbus, but will they look past the Wolverines in anticipation for the game the following week?
8. Florida Gators - I have tried to avoid this. Just for the simple fact I have to make an admission. This offense is good. REALLY good. They can overcome the fact they don't have to many great players on the defensive side of the ball by scoring lots and lots of points. Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin lead a dynamic offense w/so may looks that opposing defenses are usually left w/their head spinning.
trap game - at Arkansas. Say it with me. Look ahead game. Yeah, this has it written all over it. LSU follows up this game, and the Gators have revenge on their minds. Bobby Petrino is going to fling the ball all over the place, and they may burn the opposing DBs in the process.
9. Arizona State Sun Devils - You may hate him as a person, but you have to admit, Dennis Erickson can coach college football. And he has QB Rudy Carpenter aspiring for a PAC 10 title. They just might accomplish it. Every skill position player of offense is back this season. On defense , safety Troy Nolan is a special playmaker. 64 tackles and six picks last season. He took two of those to the house.
trap game - Much like Clemson, I don't really see a trap game here, mostly b/c I don't see UCLA as a look ahead game (they play Arizona the nest week.) UCLA will be improved this year, and I don't see ASU taking them lightly.
10. LSU Tigers. The big question mark here is QB. Ryan Perriloux was dismissed, so who is going to pass the ball? But with this defense, they may not need anyone to pass. Yes, Glen Dorsey is gone, but this defense reloads every year. The other 3 DL are back, as well as LB Darry Beckwith, who could have a breakout year this season. At RB, the Tigers are as deep as anyone in the country, with 3 guys who could explode at any given moment. If they can get a QB who can manage the game, look for the Tigers to return to the SEC title game.
trap game - at South Carolina - The Ole Ball Coach likes to pull a surprise out of his ass every now and then, and this would sure be one. But with a game at the Swamp the week before, and UGA at home the following week, will the Bayou Bengals focus be where it needs to be?
So what does everyone else have? Agree? Disagree? Put yours up and let's compare. | | |

1.) Georgia - Their schedule will do them in if anything does.
2.) OSU - Their third game against USC will tell all
3.) Oklahoma - Favorable schedule in weak conference.
4.) USC - Talent all over the field as usual no matter who they lose. Pac - 10 will be down slightly from previous couple of years.
5.) Clemson - Weak conference and outstanding running game should make for special season
6.) West Virginia - Will be in contention if they dont play to level of their competition i.e., Pittsburgh
7.) Missouri - will not play Oklahoma until Big 12 Championship
8.) Florida - Tim tebow and that offense will score non-stop.
9.) Auburn - Favorable schedule, do not play Florida and have LSU and Georgia at home. Big test is on the road against WVU.
10.) Arizona State - Sleeper pick here. Play Georgia early to determine if they are for real.
