Vikings RB Adrian Peterson Insists He'll Be Ready For Week 1

Adrian Peterson is recovering from a knee injury, and few Minnesota Vikings observers believe he will overcome in time for the 2012 NFL season opener, count Peterson among the optimistic. Coming off a gruesome torn ACL in the 2011 season's Week 16, Peterson says everything is on schedule for the Vikings' Sept. 9 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Adrian Peterson is bracing himself for a hectic rehabilitation. (AP Photo) "What I envision is to be suited up and ready to roll. Full strength," Peterson told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "Anything else? I would be cheating myself." Peterson is rehabilitating his left knee at an intense pace this off-season. Houston-based physical therapist Russ Paine told the Star-Tribune that Peterson's focus has been eye-opening to other NFL players. "Even they recognize Adrian's different. He has a different protoplasm than the rest of the world," said Paine, who is working with Green Bay Packers corner-back Tramon Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Amobi Okoye and free-agent safety James Ihedigbo. "With the experts, I'm sure 90 or 95 percent of the time, they're right with their estimates," Peterson told the Star-Tribune referring to rehab schedules. "But there are some guys you can't put the traditional timetable on. Some guys are different. I just happen to feel I'm one of those guys."

You just hope he doesn't rush things. A player isn't fully back for a whole other year after a ACL.

I hope he's trying to convince everyone else, not himself.
