Ex-Cardinals RB Edgerrin James Could Land With Eagles?

The top available running back on the free-agent market probably would be 10-year vet Edgerrin James, who turns 31 in August. James was released by the Cardinals this offseason. However, if the Eagles signed James and then Westbrook was OK a few weeks into training camp, it would be hard to keep James happy and still nurture second-round rookie LeSean McCoy, a player the Birds definitely want to get on the field this year.

They dont have a power back, even if Westbrook is healthy James would be a good pick up

The article does bring up a good point. The guy bitched about carries and playing time all last year and if BW was healthy the whole season he wouldn't see a lot if it. McCoy will be getting the other carries. If he acknowledges that's how it would be I'd love to have that insurance on the roster.

With Westbrook injured and probably won't be 100% by week 1, the Eagles would be smart to sign him.

I wouldn't mind having him until Westbrook comes back. Once he's healthy, release James (or Booker if Edge outplays him).

But will James happily ride the pine behind Westbrook and potentially McCoy?

It wouldent happen because westbrook has a good chance of being ready for week 1. Like others have said he complained about carries and if he has westbrook here he wouldent be getting many of them.

Happily, no. Soon it comes down to the point where he needs to find work though.

The Eagles can afford to pick up someone like James and as he showed last season, when fresh James is very good which would only help the Eagles if they make it into the playoffs...wait....wah...... Oh hell no, don't pick up any help even though you guys can afford it...yes, that's what I really wanted to say.
