[NFL] NFL Suspends Six Players For Final Four Games

The NFL announced Tuesday the suspension without pay for four games of six players -- Charles Grant, New Orleans, Deuce McAllister, New Orleans, Bryan Pittman, Houston Will Smith, New Orleans, Kevin Williams, Minnesota and Pat Williams, Minnesota -- that violated the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances. The players specifically violated a longstanding provision of the policy relating to the use of diuretics and water pills, which serve as masking agents for steroids and are potentially dangerous to the health of players. The policy states that the use of so-called “blocking” or “masking” agents, including diuretics and water pills, is prohibited and that a positive test will not be excused because it results from the use of a dietary supplement that unknowingly contained a banned substance.

That's going to hurt the Vikes big time. With the Williams wall gone.I agree with DD on this one too. If the manufacturer doesn't have that properly listed on the label I think the players have a good argument even if the NFL has told them it's a banned substance.

The way I understand this is the pill is actually a weight loss supplement APPROVED by the NFL? and a ingredient in the pill that is unlisted is what caused the failed test...is that right?

i'd still put my money against the lions even if they were playing against only the 2nd team players.

If you read the whole policy, it specifically states 'You (the players) and you alone are responsible for what you put in your body'....because of that, they wouldn't win if they try to fight it...IMO.
