While Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin continues to dodge questions regarding reports that hell leave the Bucs after the season and join his son, Lane, at the University of Tennessee, our friends at Pewter Report say that the Buccaneers are aware of Kiffins intentions and it sounds a lot like they know he intends to leave. This really has been addressed some time ago with Monte, G.M. Bruce Allen said. We feel very comfortable that we know what is taking place. Were going to let Monte make the comments he wants and respect his views when he does. Monte and I have talked about this. Obviously, when Lane went to coach the Raiders and then prior to that when Lane was almost going to get the University of Minnesota head coaching job. These conversations arent anything new. Monte and I have addressed the different issues over the years in terms of whether hed coach with his son or things of that nature. Kiffin has one more year remaining on his contract, and it appears that the team wont stand in his way if he chooses to leave early to work with his son. If the Bucs were to opt for hardball, they could sue Kiffin for breach of contract and/or the University of Tennessee for tortious interference with contractual relationships.
