[Steelers] Steelers Release RB Najeh Davenport, Sign DT Scott Paxson

The Steelers promoted defensive tackle Scott Paxson from their practice squad to their 53-man roster and released veteran running back Najeh Davenport. The 6-4, 292-pound Paxson has been on the Steelers' practice squad for parts of the last three seasons. The Steelers re-signed Davenport last week as insurance if Willie Parker could not play against the New England Patriots because of a left knee problem.

He gets paid on a per game basis (1/17th of his season pay) since he wasn't on the opening day roster. On a side note, Mitch Berger gets paid whether he plays the full season or not since he was on the opening roster.

He was so good on 3rd and 1, 4th and 1 last season, I don't get why Russell is our short yardage back as opposed to him, Hes obviously not getting work anywhere else so he won't be demanding too much money.

I think because the couple times Najeh got a chance he didn't convert. Russell has converted a few...and that was more than anyone else has done...lol...
