[Bears] Bears To Demote Devin Hester As Kick Returner?

Devin Hester’s days as the Chicago Bears kick returner may be nearing an end. The Chicago Tribune reported Friday that Danieal Manning is likely to be the Bears’ top return man when the club visits the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Hester has been one of the league’s most dynamic return men in recent years, but the two-time Pro Bowler has yet to run back a kick or punt for a score this season. “Devin has set the bar so high that people expect every time he touches the ball, he needs to score … every time,” Manning told the Tribune. “Sometimes I expect him to score, and I’m his teammate. If he’s tired or down or anything like that, I’m the next guy in line. And I’m just trying to do my job. I try not to let my team miss a beat.”

Like packerboy said, Hester hasn't gotten it done in the return game, so a change has to be made. This gives Hester the chance to concentrate ONLY on the offensive side of the ball now.

Hester hasn't done it so far in the return game this year. Something has got to be done about that and something was done by inserting Danieal Manning in that role. Who knows, maybe Hester will get this job back at some point.

He's not been returning well recently, so it makes sense to take him off KR. He might still be on PR though

he hasn't had many decent returns at all this season... he's way too tentative because now he plays much more than he ever did... it's a smart move.

A smart move was to get an offensive weapon instead of asking hester to do everything. But for now, I say wait and see if he produces more on offense, if he does not, then put him back as the KR/PR.
