| The Bears agreed to terms with Rex Grossman on a one-year contract. No further details are available but the short deal makes sense for both sides. The Bears should still add talent to the position, but Grossman is the favorite to start over Kyle Orton. Brian Griese is likely to get cut. After watching Grossman make the same old mistakes late last year, we're not optimistic he'll suddenly develop. Source: ChicagoBears.com

| I actually have no problem with this. The Bears are bringing Grossman back but not guaranteeing him anything as far as stability. He's going to have to play solid, consistent football and help us win games instead of forcing the team to win despite him like they did for the majority of the 2006 Super Bowl season. It also leaves the door open to the possibility that the Bears will take a QB in the draft, hopefully Joe Flacco from Delaware. Even though he is coming from a spread system at Delaware, he has blue-color QB written all over him. He has great size and a big time arm, everything the Bears need. Also, in a spread offense you have to make quick decisions with the ball and make quick reads for multiple receivers, something that will benefit him in the NFL and something that Grossman always seemed to have a problem. Now let's just hope that the Bears hold true to their word and make it an open QB competition and not just give the job to Grossman. I think he can have a great year if he has to fight for it, same goes for Orton too.

| Woah, one year? I was thinking more like two years. So he got less then what I thought he'd get.

| Totally agree with you on this one Underground. Even with this, I don't think that the Bears will take a QB in the first round, with the way things are shaping up. I'm thinking they'll take someone in the second or even third round. Someone to bring in so he might have a shot at starting that year if Grossman can't play consistent football for the Bears.

| Despite his complete incompetance to play QB in the NFL, he's a decent backup that you wouldn't mind come in for a few plays, which is what he's going to be be from going by the money.
