[Dolphins] Ex-Dolphins Assistant Arrested For Assaulting Stepson

The Miami Dolphins fired 15 of their 17 assistant coaches today, and a local newspaper is reporting that one of those fired assistants was arrested last week. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Mike Dumas, the Dolphins defensive secondary coaches' assistant, was charged with simple battery for striking his 19-year-old stepson on Christmas night. The 38-year-old Dumas, who played defensive back for the Houston Oilers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Diego Chargers, allegedly fought with his stepson in front of the house they both live in. He was taken to jail that night. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Dumas has been arrested three times in Florida since 2002. His previous arrests were for battery on an officer and resisting arrest without violence, and for violation of probation. He did not work for the Dolphins at the time of either of those arrests; it is not known whether the Dolphins knew of his arrest record when they hired him. If Dumas gets another job with another NFL team, he'll be subject to discipline under the league's personal conduct policy.

I'm just of the opinion that if a kid gets out of line, it's your right as a parent, or even a step-parent, to whoop his ass.
