[Titans] Kevin Mawae Says He Didn't Cheap Shot Shawne Merriman

Titans center Kevin Mawae said he's sorry Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was injured, but strongly denied taking a cheap shot at him. Merriman suffered a sprained ligament in his left knee when Mawae and tackle David Stewart blocked him downfield in the second quarter of San Diego's 23-17 overtime victory last Sunday at LP Field. "If the NFL deems it is a cheap shot I will pay whatever fine I have to pay," Mawae said Wednesday. "But I am moving on and it is unfortunate that he got hurt in that play. "I understand that he thinks I took a cheap shot on him. But it is what it is. I'm sorry that he got hurt — there was no intention by it. I was just downfield trying to make a block. It happens.''

Holy shit... I thought Merriman was a tough guy. Why is he complaining so much? If it was cheap he will get fined and thats that. Next time we play take a shot at Mawae... quit crying.

Mawae hit him low when he was completely out of the play. Yea I'd consider it a cheap shot. Shit Titan fans are still complaining about Merriman bumping into Young.

He isn't still whining he only mentions it whenever someone asks him, and the last time someone asked him was either Sunday or Monday, and apparently the league agreed with Merriman seeing how those linemen were fined.
