| Colts Can Sign QB Andrew Luck As Soon As Friday? | | |
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports that NFL spokesman Greg Aiello has informed them that the Indianapolis Colts can sign Stanford QB Andrew Luck as soon as this Friday. Last year, the lockout prevented the Panthers from negotiating with Cam Newton before the draft but the fact that the NFL has adopted a slotting system for draft picks, basically eliminates the need to negotiate much of anything so a deal could be signed in the near future. It remains to be seen whether or not Luck will throw at this year's Scouting Combine. Previous reports suggested that the Colts have informed him not to do so which is a pretty direct indication that they'll be drafting him with the #1 overall, not that was really in question to begin with.
