Packers Agree To Two-Year Contract With TE Jermichael Finley

The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with tight end Jermichael Finley, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports. According to Florio, the extension is worth around $15 million. $7.5 million per year top the $7.4 million per year value of Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten's current contract. The deal is also worth approximately $2 million more than the projected franchise tag for a tight end, and $2 million less than the projected franchise tag for a wide receiver. The deal also allows the Packers to use the franchise tag on quarterback Matt Flynn or center Scott Wells. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Finley is frequently split wide or flexed off the line of scrimmage, which could have led to a debate over whether he played more snaps at tight end or wide receiver if the Packers designated him their franchise player.

this is big for the packers .......... some thought the packers wouldn't be able to keep finley or wouldn't want to pay him this much.

They're coming out way on top in my opinion, getting away without paying multi-year mega deal for him. I would have thought he'd hold out for more after how much this was discussed the past few years
