Spencer's teammate, DeMarcus Ware, hopes Spencer is back. "I think it's really important to get Spencer back because if you look back, he's not a guy who is probably going to have 40 or 50 sacks, but at the end of the day, he's a run-stopper," Ware said Saturday night according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. "He drops a lot and you see a lot of pass breakups and a lot of tackles for loss, so he's making a lot of plays for us but they are subtle plays. He's a solid player we need to keep." A first-round pick out of Purdue in 2007, Spencer has been a full-time starter opposite DeMarcus Ware the last three seasons, totaling 196 tackles, 17 quarterbacks sacks and eight forced fumbles with one interception and 10 passes defensed. The 6-foot-3, 257-pound Spencer was the 26th overall pick of the '07 draft and earned $1.001 million in base salary in 2011, the final season of a $9 million rookie contract.
