The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they have restructured the contract of defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins. “We are very excited about having Cullen back on our football team," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said on Tuesday. "Cullen made an immediate impact for us this year on and off the field. We look forward to a great future together with him." Jenkins signed a five-year, $30.5 million contract with the Eagles after the lockout. That deal included a $1 million guaranteed base salary and a $3 million in roster bonuses. A $5 million roster bonus was due on March 13, which along with his $2.5 million base salary had his cap number at $7.5 million this season. While details of the restructure were not disclosed, converting the roster bonus to a signing bonus would save the Eagles' $3.75 million in cap space, a path I brought up at Football Outsiders on Monday.
i'm interested to hear what eagles fans think of jenkins contributions since joining the team. i thought he played pretty well and the eagles D would have been worse off without him.
He played stronger in the first half of the season than he did thesecond, but he was a good player for us. Little more outspoken than I'm used to and called the team out for games it had no business losing. Was actually kind of refreshing.

This. I'm hoping he becomes a Dawkins type guy and fires the team up at the end. I think the reason he tailed off the 2nd half of the season is that teams started paying more attention to him. But I think that he's a hell of a player and I'm glad that we didn't let him go and could rework his contract.
