Cardinals Say QB John Skelton Will Compete To Start

  #1

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said on a local radio show in Phoenix that John Skelton will be able to compete with Kevin Kolb for the starting quarterback job in 2012. "John certainly deserves it from the way that he played over the back half of the season," Whisenhunt said. Analysis: Skelton helped the Cardinals finish 8-8 as he stepped in numerous times for Kolb when he was dealing with concussion issues. The Cardinals could also be in the market for Colts quarterback Peyton Manning if he's released from the team.

how does it make zero sense?

out of all the teams that are desperate for a real QB, no team has more general talent on their roster except for the Jets, but I can't imagine Peyton playing for the fat ass, so AZ actually makes the MOST sense out of all of the possible landing spots.

Their line is absolutely awful, 54 sacks allowed last year, and they aren't so talented as a team that Peyton would push them over the top. They have one all world WR, a bunch of scrubs, a mostly mediocre RB, and no TE. The defense was decent last year but its nowhere near championship caliber and aging fast.

well, wait a minute. in all fairness, a LOT of those sacks and lack of production at WR and TE came from horrible QB play. The QB's they played last year had trouble reading NFL defenses and making decisions (which is why they are so desperate for a real QB). Even if Peyton is only 80%, he will make everyone on that offense a lot better.

as far as the age of their defense, their best players are not old. haggans and lenon are the 2 dinosaurs on that defense and they will probably be cut anyway to bring in some younger talent and they can be easily replaced. in fact, i could make a pretty strong case that if they would replace them, they will probably find themselves in a much better position.

I think the only team that makes sense is Arizona. The line means nothing, with the recieving Corps and a chance for the playoffs, if Peyton leaves Indy hes going to Zona. I think Peyton would be wide eyed at the opp. to throw to Fitz daily.

I think the line definitely matters. Mannings not exactly mobile anymore, and he's in no position to be taking anymore hits than he has to. No, the qbs in AZ didnt he the line any last season, but theres no getting around the fact that they are not very good and did not help the qb's any either. Peytons priority should be staying upright, and AZ doesnt offer that.

Yeah but I think a combination of the fact that Peyton is coming will help the line and the Front Office would probably bolster the line if Peyton came in, especially if he told them it was a deal breaker.
