Cardinals Have No Intention Of Letting DE Calais Campbell Get Away

Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this off-season, but general manager Rod Graves says the team has no intention of letting him get away. "Calais will be with us, rest assured," Graves told Arizona Sports 620 according to the team's official website. "We will continue to focus on getting a long-term deal in place and it’s a process. But he will be an Arizona Cardinals player this year and we are hoping certainly to extend that to a long-term deal. Conversations are continuing with his agent." A 2008 second-round pick out of Miami, the 6-foot-8, 300-pound Campbell has 180 tackles, 21 sacks and 18 passes defensed as a full-time starter over the last three seasons. Campbell could receive the franchise tag, which is projected to be worth around $10.6 million in 2012.

The Cards said the exact same thing about Karlos Dansby, tagged him twice......then watched him sign with Miami. This is one man the Cards cannot afford to lose.

the cards are not in good cap shape. they're going to need some of their vets whose contracts are out of whack to restructure in order to keep campbell

They're about $4.2 under and that won't get it done. Out of whack? Levi Brown and his contract. Him getting cut (which I pray they do) would free up $18,225,000 for 2012 alone. But to your point, there are other's whose contracts are 'whacko' that would have to be redone if they keep Brown and restructure his.

Strike me dead for saying this, but I'd take Smith over Peppers. You don't need Campbell.
