Financial terms were not disclosed, but Edmonton's general manager confirmed over the weekend that the Dolphins' offer, at least initially, contained no signing bonus. Messam, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound native of Brampton, Ontario who played his college ball at Graceland University in Iowa, had 195 carries for 1,057 yards and six touchdowns for the Eskimos last season, earning All-Star honors. Messam was the first Canadian-born running back to top 1,000 yards since the 2000 season and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian. The 26-year-old Messam began his CFL career with the B.C. Lions, but a series of off-field incidents, including breaking a teammates jaw in a locker room fight, led to him being dealt to the Eskimos in 2011. Source: Mac's Football Blog
