Chiefs Interested In Dolphins Coach Brian Daboll As Next OC

The Kansas City Chiefs are talking to Brian Daboll about their vacant offensive-coordinator position, according to a league source. The Chiefs have also looked at Jim Zorn as an in-house candidate and have spoken to former Raiders coordinator Al Saunders, who has worked previously in Kansas City. Daboll, most recently Miami's offensive coordinator, has a history with general manager Scott Pioli and several executives expect him to be a top candidate for the job.

eh, i know people like to bag on daboll but what has he really had to work with the last few years?

in fact, i could make a pretty good case that he made the phins offense better last season and you can see that the browns offense has gone to shit since he left .................. shouldn't he get at least a 'little' credit for those things?

He did ok, but his play calling at times was downright idiotic.

Loves throwing deep when it doesn't make any sense, ie 3rd/4th and short. Loves it.

personally, i think play calling is very overrated .............. obviously, you want someone to make logical calls that are successful at the right times but I would rather have a scheming and player development genius who was a crappy play caller than a scheming and player development dumbass who calls logical plays every time. in the long run, i'm going to be more successful with my guy.

i'm not saying daboll is great at any of the aspects of the o.c. position, but he did seem to do better with similar personnel than Shurmur and Henning could do.

He really didn't, at least in Miami. They were the same, move between the 20's and kick a FG offense.

Maybe play calling can be worked around in some situations but Daboll's was directly responsible for plenty of losses, and I don't want a guy who loses the game in charge of stuff. I understand your perspective but nothing I've seen from the guy would give me much of any faith in him.
